Job Overview

Shega is seeking a dynamic Commercial and Strategic Partnerships Director/Manager to drive revenue growth and expand our impact across Africa and emerging markets. In this pivotal role, you will monetize Shega’s hybrid platform—combining AI-powered data intelligence, media, and advisory services—by closing high-value B2B deals, scaling subscriptions, and forging strategic alliances with corporates, investors, and development organizations. The ideal candidate brings 5–8 years of experience in commercial leadership, a proven track record of six-figure+ partnerships, and deep networks across Africa’s fintech and innovation ecosystems. You’ll thrive as a strategic thinker, negotiator, and team leader, translating Shega’s mission of data-driven decision-making into scalable revenue streams. Based in Addis Ababa (or remotely), this role offers competitive compensation, flexibility, and the opportunity to shape how businesses and policymakers navigate Africa’s transformation.

Responsibility

1. Revenue Growth & Commercial Strategy

  • Develop and execute annual/quarterly commercial plans to meet revenue targets (ARR, TCV).
  • Design monetization models for Shega’s product lines (media, advisory, SaaS/data subscriptions).
  • Own pricing strategy, deal governance, and pipeline forecasting.

2. Strategic Partnerships & Alliances

  • Identify, negotiate, and close partnerships with corporates, DFIs, development orgs, and data providers.
  • Create bundled solutions (data + content + advisory) to address partner pain points.
  • Lead donor-funded multiyear projects and manage partner onboarding/reviews.

3. Sales & Business Development

  • Drive enterprise sales for platform subscriptions and agency services.
  • Convert high-potential leads into marquee clients (six-figure USD+ deals).
  • Leverage Shega’s media channels (newsletters, SEM) for targeted GTM campaigns.

4. Team & Process Leadership

  • Build and mentor a high-performing commercial team (sales, account management).
  • Implement CRM tools, sales playbooks, and data-driven decision frameworks.

5. Market Intelligence & Advocacy

  • Scan emerging trends (fintech, digital economy) to inform product roadmaps.
  • Represent Shega at industry events and high-level stakeholder engagements.

Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • 5–8 yrs in B2B commercial leadership, business development, or strategic partnerships within media, SaaS/data platforms, or advisory/consulting; African or emerging-market exposure essential.
  • Proven track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals (six-figure USD+).
  • Deep network across fintech, development finance institutions, corporates, and tech ecosystems in Africa.
