SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting children and young people who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it. Since starting operations in Ethiopia in 1974, the organization has expanded its programs across multiple regions, working closely with communities, donors, and government institutions to create sustainable positive change.

The organization is currently hiring a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Knowledge Management Specialist based in Addis Ababa.


Position Summary

The Knowledge Management Specialist will lead the development and strengthening of knowledge management systems across the organization. The role focuses on promoting organizational learning, evidence-based decision-making, documentation of lessons learned, and effective sharing of information across teams and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will work closely with Programme Quality leadership and MEAL teams to support learning, research, data management, reporting, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Learning & Knowledge Management

  • Capture, document, and share lessons learned, success stories, and best practices

  • Organize learning workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions

  • Develop and support organizational knowledge management strategies

  • Support creation of case studies, evidence briefs, and learning products

  • Coordinate learning events and stakeholder participation

  • Work with MEAL and communication teams to strengthen evidence generation

  • Support donor reporting and organizational publications

Evaluation & Research Support

  • Assist in baseline, midline, and end-line evaluations

  • Consolidate findings from evaluations and assessments

  • Lead review workshops and reflection meetings

  • Analyze and disseminate research findings and innovations

Data Management

  • Support data collection, validation, cleaning, and reporting processes

  • Conduct field visits and data quality assessments

  • Assist in developing digital data collection tools such as Kobo Toolbox and SPSS systems

  • Maintain project databases and support reporting dashboards

  • Ensure data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational standards

Capacity Building & Safeguarding

  • Train staff on knowledge management systems and data quality practices

  • Promote safeguarding principles in all data collection and reporting activities

  • Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of sensitive information

  • Support safeguarding awareness and compliance within project teams


Qualifications

Education

  • MA/MSc in Statistics, Economics, Demography, Development Economics, or related fields

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in knowledge management within NGOs or humanitarian organizations

  • Strong background in data analysis, reporting, and organizational learning

  • Experience with digital data collection tools and knowledge-sharing systems

Skills

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Experience with Kobo Toolbox, SPSS, Excel, and reporting systems

  • Knowledge of MEAL principles and humanitarian project management

  • Ability to facilitate workshops and coordinate learning initiatives

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
