Job Overview

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Finance Manager to lead and oversee the entire finance function of SOS Social Enterprise operations across multiple business units and regional branches. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with Ethiopian financial regulations, budgeting, forecasting, and sustainable financial growth.

The Finance Manager will work closely with executive leadership to improve financial performance, manage risks, strengthen financial systems, and support expansion initiatives across schools, furniture manufacturing, rental properties, dairy farms, and future business ventures.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Budgeting

  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes for all enterprise business units

  • Prepare financial models and forecasts to support business expansion and strategic decisions

  • Monitor costs, margins, and profitability across all operations

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive management

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

  • Develop consolidated financial statements and management dashboards

  • Conduct variance analysis and performance reporting for different business lines and regions

  • Maintain effective cost center and activity-based reporting systems

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Strengthen internal control systems and financial procedures

  • Ensure proper cash handling, bank reconciliation, payroll controls, and fixed asset management

  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, accounting standards, and organizational policies

  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities and follow up corrective actions

Cash Flow & Risk Management

  • Monitor liquidity and cash flow planning

  • Improve receivables, payables, and working capital management

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks including currency and vendor risks

Financial Systems & Process Improvement

  • Oversee accounting systems, ERP tools, budgeting software, and reporting systems

  • Standardize financial processes across all branches

  • Improve automation, reporting efficiency, and documentation systems

Costing & Profitability Analysis

  • Support pricing and profitability analysis across business operations

  • Monitor production and operational costs for manufacturing, rental, and agricultural activities

  • Ensure accurate costing methodologies and financial performance tracking

Leadership & Governance

  • Develop and update finance policies and approval workflows

  • Provide financial guidance to department and regional managers

  • Promote accountability, transparency, and financial stewardship

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields

  • Professional certifications are an added advantage

Experience

  • 7–10 years of progressive finance and accounting management experience

  • Experience in multi-site organizations, manufacturing, agriculture, or social enterprises is preferred

  • Strong background in budgeting, audit management, financial reporting, and internal controls

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian accounting and tax regulations

  • Advanced financial analysis and reporting skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • High ethical standards and strong attention to detail
