About the Position
SOS Children's Villages Ethiopia is seeking qualified and experienced professionals for two Gender, Youth, and Safeguarding Officer positions under the MaYEA Program. The successful candidates will support program implementation, youth empowerment, gender equality initiatives, and safeguarding activities within the Sidama Cluster.
The role involves working closely with program teams, local government institutions, community stakeholders, and youth-focused initiatives to ensure effective implementation of project activities while maintaining the highest safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management

Support implementation of MaYEA program activities across assigned locations

Collaborate with technical officers, accountants, and woreda program teams
-
Ensure effective utilization of program resources
-
Maintain strong partnerships with government agencies, community organizations, and development partners
-
Promote compliance with donor, organizational, and government regulations
Gender and Youth Engagement
-
Promote gender equality and inclusion within program activities
-
Support youth-led enterprise development and livelihood opportunities
-
Facilitate awareness campaigns, training sessions, and coaching programs
-
Strengthen participation of young women and vulnerable groups in economic opportunities
-
Develop mechanisms that encourage meaningful youth engagement
Safeguarding and Protection
-
Coordinate safeguarding policy implementation across project locations
-
Conduct safeguarding orientation and training sessions
-
Ensure staff, volunteers, and partners comply with the code of conduct
-
Raise safeguarding awareness within communities
-
Receive, document, and follow up safeguarding concerns and reports
-
Maintain confidential safeguarding records and reporting systems
Monitoring, Learning, and Reporting

Prepare annual work plans and implementation schedules
-
Develop and submit quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reports

Document lessons learned, success stories, and program achievements
-
Support knowledge-sharing and adaptive learning processes

Monitor progress and ensure program quality standards are maintained
Networking and Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong relationships with youth, gender, and safeguarding stakeholders
-
Participate in multi-stakeholder platforms and review meetings
-
Support communication and visibility of program achievements

Facilitate collaboration among government offices, communities, and development partners
Qualifications
Education
-
BA or MBA in Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Law, or related fields
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience
-
Experience in gender equality, youth engagement, and safeguarding programs is highly desirable
-
Experience in livelihood development, youth employment, agribusiness, rural finance, or inclusive development programs is an advantage
