Position Summary

World Vision Ethiopia is seeking a highly qualified Senior Gender Advisor to provide strategic leadership and technical expertise for the RESILIENT WE Project. The successful candidate will lead gender-transformative programming, strengthen women’s empowerment initiatives, support gender mainstreaming across project sectors, and ensure high-quality implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

The role will work closely with project teams, government institutions, community organizations, donors, and development partners to advance gender equality and improve outcomes for women and girls.

Key Responsibilities

Gender Leadership and Program Quality

• Serve as the lead gender technical advisor for the RESILIENT WE Project.

• Provide strategic guidance for project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

• Review and strengthen gender-related indicators, targets, and performance frameworks.

• Ensure gender-transformative approaches are integrated across all project activities.

Women's Empowerment and Gender Equality

• Promote sustainable economic and social empowerment opportunities for women and girls.

• Support initiatives that increase women’s leadership, participation, and decision-making.

• Ensure gender equality priorities are institutionalized within project interventions and partner organizations.

Safeguarding, GBV, and Human Rights

• Collaborate with project teams to strengthen safeguarding systems and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) interventions.

• Support implementation of human-rights-based approaches and protection mechanisms.

• Ensure women and girls receive safe, inclusive, and accessible services.

Capacity Building and Partnership Development

• Conduct organizational and community capacity assessments.

• Deliver training, mentorship, and technical support to staff, partners, community-based organizations (CBOs), faith-based organizations (FBOs), and government stakeholders.

• Build strong partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, and development actors.

Monitoring, Learning, and Documentation

• Support data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.

• Document best practices, lessons learned, success stories, and project achievements.

• Develop technical reports, presentations, publications, and knowledge products.

Coordination and Representation

• Represent World Vision in gender-related forums, task forces, consortium meetings, and stakeholder engagements.

• Maintain strong collaboration with donors, government institutions, and partner organizations.

• Promote knowledge sharing and cross-sectoral learning.

Qualifications

Education

• Master's Degree (MSc) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in gender equality, women’s empowerment, rural development, or related areas.

• Proven experience implementing gender-transformative programs.

• Experience working with donor-funded development projects.

• Strong understanding of gender analysis frameworks, safeguarding, and GBV programming.

• Demonstrated experience in research, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement.

Work Environment
